These enameled terracotta tiles were used to seal Provence’s ancient wine vats. This coating allowed for easier cleaning and prevented the mortar from being attacked by the acidity of the wine. They were also placed around dovecotes to deter rodent invasions. We wanted to pay tribute to these tiles by reissuing them with one of the last master ceramists in the Var region. These 20 x 20 tiles are available in 7 color finishes, including yellow, green, or brick red.
